A few years ago I visited Cheddington and came across the old ROC Post up on the hill. Can anyone tell me anything about why the top of the hatch was sawn off?

Hi Bill,

That's actually my photo on the Geograph site.

It would have taken some serious effort to saw the top of the hatch off though. Rather bizarre really, given that the lock could have been opened with a large flat-bladed screwdriver.
